Absence of Perception

How can I understand someonewhen I have never seenwhat they have seen?

How can I understand their painwhen I have never carried it?Their memories,when I have never lived them?Their feelings,when I have never felt them?

Words can describe an experience,but they can never become the experience itself.You can tell me how it felt,but I will only ever knowwhat it feels like through you.

Maybe true understandingdoesn’t come from listening to words,but from feeling what words cannot explain.

So is it even possibleto truly understand another person?

To see the worldthrough someone else’s eyes?

Maybe we can come close.Maybe we can empathize.Maybe we can imagine.

But we will always returnto our own perception.

And if I cannot even understandthe world inside of me…

how could I ever claimto understand the worldinside of someone else?
